Treatments

Whatever the problem we're here to help.

Whatever your foot problem you can be assured of a warm welcome at our Centre and a thorough, professional approach to your treatment.

On your first appointment with us, we will take your name and address and any relevant medical details.

You will then have both your feet examined and any foot conditions diagnosed. We will then discuss the options available for treatment of your foot problem. Your feet will then be treated and footcare advice given, where necessary, to keep your feet healthy in the future.

Michael Plank and his colleagues provide a fully comprehensive foot health service to alleviate, cure and prevent foot and gait problems. Common problems consist of:

  • Corns and calluses. These are removed painlessly and the cause identified if possible. Relevant advice will then help to prevent reoccurrence of these conditions.

  • Heel pain, foot strain, flat feet, high arched feet, ball of foot pain and other foot pains. These can be improved with varying combinations of paddings, support taping, cushioned heel cups and cushioned insoles. The Podiatrist may also advise stretching and strengthening exercises or rest. In some cases special supportive insoles (orthoses) may be advised.

  • Ingrowing Nails. This painful condition can be easily corrected by skilful removal of the affected edge and with appropriate antiseptics. More severe or reoccurring ingrowing nails can be treated with a simple Minor operation. This provides a permanent solution to the problem under local anaesthesia.

  • Nail Disorders. Many problems can occur with toenails such as thickening, lifting and fungal infections. These and more can all be dealt with at the surgery.

  • Lower limb overuse sports injuries. Sports injuries can be treated by a combination of stretching and strengthening exercises, physical therapies and orthoses. Orthoses are special insoles, custom made to correct your individual foot and leg alignment thus restoring optimal function and preventing further injury. See biomechanics and orthoses pages.

  • Verrucae. These viral skin infections often resolve of their own accord. However persistent or very painful ones can be treated with either Acid treatments (At home or in the clinic) or Cryotherapy (Freezing) treatments or occasionally a combination of both.

A range of foot products, such as foot creams and insole materials are always available from the Podiatrist. Please ask for details.
